TheAmators.com started out in as a way to share our adventurous 1 year sabbatical with family and friends. So far it’s going really well. I’m actually shocked that folks are following us. I knew our immediate family would be compelled to read it (because I secretly test them, “So… what did you think about the last post…..” blink blink blink). But I was surprised at the first order followers – all the folks my mom emails when a new post comes out. Then there are legit “others” following us and I’ll be honest… you guys are my favorites! We must have the same quirky sense of humor or else I would have chaffed you long ago. Hello kindred spirits.
I started putting more effort into the posts. No one wants to be boring and I always find it funny when someone else falls or something terrible breaks or everyone barfs… so I started including those less-than-glamourous tidbits too. We also try to be helpful occasionally and motivational to anyone interested in trying something different.
As everything has grown… so has the time and effort to maintain it and make it better and bigger. It’s become my after-the-kids-go-to-bed full-time job. I also happen to love it.
We feel (and we hope you do too!) our website is providing a value, whether it’s in the form of entertainment or providing information. Without the ongoing support of you: family, friends, friends we haven’t met in person yet, dreamers, explorers…. all of our VIPS…. none of this would be possible. We wouldn’t have made it this far without all of you and certainly can’t move forward without you either.
